Who we are
The Center for Road Safety (CRS), affiliated with
the School of Civil Engineering
at Purdue University, conducts
research and develops engineering tools in the area of road safety, including driver, vehicle, and roadway-related characteristics. CRS has extensive
expertise in identification
of factors that affect safety, development and design
of safety databases, and development
and implementation of computer-based tools to
assist in all aspects of safety management and planning. Utilizing the
latest methodological techniques, CRS can deliver user-friendly computer tools customized to end-user conditions and needs.
CRS has extensive experience with storing and processing
massive amount of data and meeting
strict security requirements and
uses a vast assortment of software to take on the most intensive data processing
and numeric computational tasks. Its affiliation with the Purdue University School of Civil Engineering affords CRS full access to the hardware and software resources available through the extensive and sophisticated
Purdue Engineering Computing Network (ECN).
CRS provides services to a wide variety of local, state, and federal agencies,
including counties, cities, the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Indiana
Department of Homeland Security, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, the Federal
Highway Administration, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and
